Powder Coating

What is powder coating?

Powder coating is the process of applying a dry particle finish to a clean surface and curing through a baking process. This finish best works on a clean, grounded metal material so that the charged particles evenly stick to the surface. As a result, you are sure to receive an even, smooth, and strong finish that will leave you impressed! Additionally, powder coating provides a scratch and weather resistant finish that will last for years to come.

What is the powder coating made of?

The powdered particles used are based on polymer resin systems, pigments, leveling agents, flow modifiers, curatives, and sometimes other additives to achieve different looks and finishes. These ingredients are mixed, melted, cooled, and ground into a uniform powder similar to flour used in baking.

How durable and flexible is powder coating?

Powder coating is one of the more high-quality finishes you can find. It is well known for providing a durable and clean finish that liquid paints cannot offer. Powder coated products are more resistant to dings, scratches, weather conditions, moisture, chemicals, and UV light. It is sure to provide a clean and long-lasting finish for years to come!

Can you powder coat non-metal surfaces such as plastics or ceramics?

Yes and no. Some surfaces are more tolerant to the high temperatures required to cure the powder. However, we primary powder coat conductive metal surfaces.

Is there a high temperature powder coating?

Yes! We carry several different types of high temperature powders. We do recommend to avoid coating parts that will be at extreme heats such as exhaust pipes and headers.

What size of parts can you powder coat?

We can powder coat small items and most large 6’x6’x10′ items. Special arrangements can be made if an item is larger than this specification. Contact us if you have any questions!
